William August Raithel Obituary (1940 - 2014)

William August Raithel, 73, of rural Lexington, died at 3:42 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2014 at his home.Cremation rites have been accorded and in keeping with Bills wishes there will be no services. Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements.He was born August 27, 1940 in Bloomington, the son of Elmer and Wilma Friend Raithel.Surviving are two children, Brian (Judy) Raithel of rural Lexington and Angie (Laife) Francisco of Carlock; four grandchildren, Timothy (Crystal), Brittani, Brenda and Rae Ann; and four siblings, George Raithel, Mary Wilson, Gary Raithel and Marsha Beeler.He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Carol Raithel and Margaret Welcome; and one brother, Elmer Raithel, Jr.Bill served in the U.S. Army National Guard and retired from Firestone in Normal in 2003 after 36 years of service. He was a proud longtime member of Local 787. Bill was an avid fisherman and enjoyed any time he was able to spend with his family.Despite a rather gruff exterior, Bill had a kind heart. He was a loving father and grandfather whose presence will be greatly missed.
