Obituary for Juanita I Rutledge

Juanita I. Rutledge, 83, of Heyworth, passed away at 1:47 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2019 at her daughter’s home in Normal, surrounded by family.

Private services will be held in Juanita’s memory. Cremation rites have been accorded by Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. A private entombment will be held at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington at a later date.

She was born April 13, 1936 in Bloomington, daughter of Ray C. and Elsie A. Miller Hardesty. She married Joseph Rutledge on January 16, 1954.

Surviving are her husband, Joseph of Heyworth; her children, Brenda Rutledge of Greenville, Paul W.(Mary Simpson) Rutledge of Bloomington, Joseph (Terri) Rutledge of Bogulsa, LA, Kevin R. (Sharon) Rutledge of Bloomington, Rebecca (Steve) Thornton of Normal and Delores Rutledge of Clinton. They have blessed her with 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Wilma Garrison, Rena Hodges and Dorothy Peasley, all of Bloomington and one brother, Cletus Hardesty of LeRoy.

She was preceded in death by a great-grandson; her sister, Marilyn Lowery and an infant sister; five brothers, Fred, George, Joseph, Wayne and Harold Hardesty and daughter-in-law, Sue Rutledge.

Juanita was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington for more than 60 years.

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. God has opened his arms and welcomed his loving angel.
